Phonics are very easy to learn, they're nothing to be intimidated about. We use phonic sounds every time we speak. When teaching phonics we need to event the phonic sound we say with the written phonic sound. It is that simple. When you're learning how to teach phonics you will need a phonic chart so you may exercise session the phonic written sounds and how to mention them.
If you only learnt the phonics sounds life could be easier. You will have to tell your toddlers after they begin to learn to read phonics to forget the alphabet and begin utilizing the hot sounds. It doesnt take long before your toddlers realize the connection between the phonic sounds and words. After they realize this, phonics becomes easier and they begin to look as words as sounds and they try to pronounce the word nicely.
A big problem when your toddlers begin to learn phonics is, they are able to read but they do not understand what they're reading. They love the mechanics of reading and can read o.k.. You have to clarify the words and sentence meanings so your toddlers will learn to love reading.
Synthetic phonics is one more system that has been around for ages and taught me to read many years ago. But the main difference between the two is with synthetic phonics the child learns all the phonic sounds before starting on words. I prefer to deliver in words early on in the learning experience as the child can begin to read easy books ahead.
If you're new to phonics and what to teach your toddlers I recommend this Montessori program as it explains how to turn phonics into words. Montessori teaching has been around for over a a hundred years so it has passed the test of time and it's miles still used today in Montessori colleges around the planet. With this system you might want to spend some time with your toddlers as it's miles a hands on system. You cant just show your child and leave them to learn by themselves.
Most toddlers are brought up to recite the alphabet so after they begin to learn to read phonics they have to relearn the sounds, as the phonics letters and combinations sound are numerous for the alphabet. When I teach phonics I try not to mention the alphabet letter sounds that we all know. Actually there's no reason why to learn the alphabet as we never use it for anything other than something to learn.
